since opening day (25th November 2009) - and counting!
We were CLOSED from

Tuesday 4 October
reopening Wednesday 5 October,
Belgian Beer Maintenance!
And of course...
We are now
CLOSED on ALL
Sundays and Mondays.
CAMRA North-East Regional Cider Pub Of The Year 2012 and
North-East Region PUB OF THE YEAR 2013
NOW SELLS A SMALL RANGE OF
gift vouchers now available
We are now open until 9pm every Saturday, even when Hartlepool United are playing, with very few exceptions.
And we're now on Twitter as @ratracealehouse, but it all seems a bit pointless as there's no way I can condense the beer list down to 140 lousy, miserable characters, unless somebody out there has some bright ideas?
For more about real beer, see the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) website at:www.camra.org.uk
or for a more local view of real ale, you can find out more from Cleveland CAMRA here
And speaking of local, even Middlesbrough has now got in on the Micropub act with the opening of Dr.Phil's Real Ale House
Thanks to Lorna for the Rat!!
Yet more thanks to Martyn Hillier at The Butcher's Arms - click here - for giving me the idea for starting the RRA!
If you're in the vicinity of Newark-on-Trent and you need a Micropub fix, why not visit Just Beer?
Or if you're in Ramsgate and need a beer in a Micropub, there's always The Conqueror!
And finally on Micropubs - As I can't keep up with all the new openings across the country, the best examples are all members of the Micropub Association
For those planning a food and drink trip further afield, the Rat heartily recommends visiting De Paterstafel at Watouplein 14, 8978 Watou, Belgium, for great food, excellent Belgian beer and a good night's sleep - and Watou is a great place to visit for BEER!
